Jb's First Drive based in Ickleton and covering the surrounding areas of south Cambs and Saffron Walden. For driving refresher courses through to intense driving instruction. Give Jackie a call for very competitive local rates.
Your lessons are designed for you, paced to fit your learning, tailor made whether a beginner or someone with some driving experience. New drivers follow a syllabus covering all aspects required by the practical driving test. Your driving experience is important to me, so during your lessons in a patient, friendly environment you will gain the skills to become a safe, competent and conscientious driver.
Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years after passing their test, due to lack of driving experience. Pass Plus is not a driving test but a 6 hour course (minimum) that will build on your current skills and knowledge. It will teach you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, and help you become a more confident driver.
A Pass Plus course can be taken at any time, but it's ideally taken in the first year after passing your driving test.
Your lesson begins at your door in a 1.4 Citreon C3 fitted with HE Man dual controls with a thoughtful, patient driving instructor.
I honestly cannot recommend Jackie and JB's First Drive enough. I am a nervous female driver who has been trying to learn to drive for two years. I failed two driving tests previously due to nerves and that had completely knocked my confidence. Thanks to Jackie's amazing coaching style and her kindness, I passed my test (with only three minors!) after five weeks of refresher lessons. I knew as soon as I met Jackie that she would be a wonderful teacher. She is both professional and personable, which puts you at ease. During the initial drives she asks you to pull over several times to discuss and analyse your performance. This means that it's much easier to correct any flaws or faults during a single lessons, which meant that I felt that I progressed much quicker than I had with previous driving instructors who just gave feedback at the end of the lesson. Later on as you're preparing for the test, Jackie often stays quiet on drives, recreating the driving test scenario – you can fully concentrate on driving and it prepares you for the feeling of driving during the test. She is always patient and supportive, even when I was in the throes of despair about driving, feeling that I would never be able to pass my test. I was ready to cancel my test and give up, but chatting it over meant that I didn't throw in the towel – thank goodness! Her coaching style means that she allows you to work out any issues with maneuvers, talking it over with you. She really went out of her way to ensure that I didn't feel downhearted about something after a lesson, thinking that I couldn't do it – this was especially true of my reverse bay park, which she allowed me to practice over and over again! Jackie ensured that I feel able to control the car in any situation. I didn't merely learn the test route – I have learned to drive. Although much more time will need to be spent brushing up on my skills when I get my own car, Jackie has helped me to get on the road. I know I have a whole lifetime of safe driving ahead of me now!
